We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Safety Engineer to join our Safety and Health department. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations, enhancing safety protocols, and minimizing chemical risks within manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in chemical operations and a proactive approach to improving safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the implementation and compliance of key Process Safety Management (PSM) systems in alignment with OSHA’s PSM and EPA’s RMP regulations.
  • Develop and enhance safety management systems and procedures to drive continuous improvement in safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on PSM, providing training and guidance on safety fundamentals and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and assess process safety risks, coordinating audits to ensure compliance and determine best practices.
  • Develop innovative solutions to enhance process safety, particularly in response to audit findings and hazard analysis.
  • Conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Facilitate risk assessment techniques such as Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Offer input on process safety requirements for engineering projects, adhering to industry standards such as NFPA and API.
  • Engage with plant operations to incorporate Inherently Safer Technology (IST) solutions.
  • Conduct chemical dispersion modeling for safety analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in hazard analysis techniques such as HAZOP.
  • Strong skills in MS Office applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to dynamic environments.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, with occasional requirements to navigate plant environments. The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Candidates should be comfortable working in a team-oriented setting and maintaining professional and ethical standards.
