Seeking a dynamic and experienced Environmental Health & Safety Director to lead and enhance our organization's commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship. This pivotal role demands a strategic thinker with a robust background in managing environmental, health, and safety programs, particularly in hazardous waste and environmental permitting within RCRA Part B permitted facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) laws and regulations.
  • Innovate and implement continuous improvement strategies for HSE practices.
  • Maintain and prepare necessary records following established guidelines.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive safety programs, including business continuity and worker’s compensation.
  • Create compliance tools to adhere to Corporate Risk Management & Safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with business units to develop effective HSE and ESG policies and programs.
  • Oversee safety aspects of expense and capital projects.
  • Align EH&S management systems with emerging regulations and corporate requirements.
  • Support Operations and Legal in regulatory compliance and incident management.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspect safety equipment for proper functionality.
  • Manage the medical surveillance program and ensure projects are timely and budget-compliant.
  • Complete annual OSHA incident reports and run an effective Near Miss program.
  • Investigate employee injuries, manage medical responses, and handle worker’s compensation claims.
  • Train, develop, and grow HSE talent and capability.
  • Coordinate and participate in inspections, ensuring timely feedback and correction of deficiencies.
  • Travel to field sites as required for training, audits, and meetings.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within a waste and hazardous management company, particularly with RCRA Part B.
  • Spanish language skills are advantageous.
  • 10+ years of progressive EH&S experience, including global EHS framework knowledge.
  • 5+ years in a managerial role.
  • OSHA 30-hour Training certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with all employee levels.
  • Point of contact for federal, state, and local regulators and inspectors (OSHA, EPA, IDEM).
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to drive change and foster a performance-driven culture.
  • Strong action-oriented mindset with a sense of urgency and strategic thinking capability.
